The Alere Triage® System is a leading novel, rapid diagnostic test system comprised of a meter and various test devices that improve a physician’s ability to aid in the diagnosis of critical diseases and health conditions including heart failure and myocardial infarction as well as aid in assessing patients for pulmonary embolism. Alere Triage® brand rapid tests include quantitative BNP, CK-MB, d-dimer, myoglobin, NGAL, troponin I and qualitative TOX Drug Screen, and are currently used in approximately 70 percent of U.S. hospitals and is available in more than 50 international markets.

The Value of BNP Testing
The results of several clinical trials indicate that BNP-guided therapy is useful for the diagnosis and risk stratification of patients with heart failure. A growing number of studies have also shown that patients with elevated BNP levels have a higher risk of morbidity, and recent evidence suggests that a BNP-guided approach to heart failure therapy and management could reduce hospitalizations for people under the age of 75.
