Antibiotics Awareness Week is November 18-24

Be antibiotics aware

Be antibiotics aware

As a healthcare professional, you know antibiotics are not always the solution. In fact, you know their misuse contributes to one of the largest and most urgent health problems in the world. Antibiotics Awareness Week is a great time to educate the world about the importance of Antimicrobial Stewardship.

Discover the Test Target Treat™ initiative

Antibiotic resistance is not an isolated phenomenon, though the extent of resistance varies across different countries and regions in the world. Overuse of antibiotics – in hospitals and outpatient settings - is a key driver of antimicrobial resistance and limits future effectiveness of treatments for tackling infection.2,3 One of the most promising solutions to antibiotic resistance is to have the healthcare industry fundamentally change the way it prescribes and uses antibiotics.3

The Test Target Treat™ initiative was created to help you make targeted treatment decisions sooner — reducing inappropriate antimicrobial use and the spread of resistance.

When someone takes an antibiotic that they do not need, they are needlessly exposed to the side effects of the drug and do not get any benefit from it.3

Through educational resources, advice from leading infectious disease experts, and world-class diagnostic tools, we hope to create a shift in treatment trends, moving away from the broad over-prescription of antibiotics, which spawned the growing prevalence of serious healthcare-associated infections like MRSA, towards more targeted therapy.
